I have no idea why I spent my time and energy typing up "The Raven" (see bottom of page), but it was worth it (because now I've gained a new understanding of the poem) and thanks to it I will have to archive early (cos the page's getting damn long). But no matter, it's the end of the month anyway.

I woke up this morning feeling the same giddiness as any girl would when they'd just met a wonderful guy yesterday and couldn't wait to see him again. I wondered at this and wracked my brain trying to remember who (though I'm sure I hadn't met anyone new recently), then I realized I was really excited about writing this story I started a while ago, newly named "The Second Angel" (christianed just yesterday, in fact ^_^), because I'd started writing about the dude last night and since the story is in a first person (girl) narrative... -_- you can see how I got carried away. -_-; I still can't wait to write more, but I think I'll hold off it a while until I can differentiate between illusion and reality. Okay, I'm gonna stop making fun of myself and go do hw. Demo~ It's a really good story so far! >_< I can't help it if I like writing!

I'm at my mom's office right now. Took sub over after lunch. Before that I bought this super funny and ultra cute book called Hoka! about a race of sentient teddy bears making all sorts of trouble for a plenipotentiary. It's hilarious! I got it for about $3 at Pegasus Bookstore. Completely worth it! I also got The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling. It's the fourth book in the Nightrunner series, though according to the woman it's not really a series but just a collection of novels she writes about some favorite characters. Anyway, this book takes place about 300 years in time before the events of the first three books of the Nightrunner series, based on the boy-turned-girl (it's not what you think!)warrior queen that was mentioned in the previous books.

Ugh, must go finish math homework... I sat in on the econ class today, and after the two hour block class, I've decided not to ever buy a house (Mr. Powers used buying a house as an example, and went on to talk about all these taxes and mortgages and stuff! >_<). I'm gonna stick with condos and apartments.

I think Eugene actually reads this blog... >_> Nghnnn... Go away Eugene...

Ne, Vinita, I'm gonna tell you a secret: I never finished reading the The Scarlet Letter! I hated Hawthorne's rantings and his goingons about everything except the main story. So I just went to the bookstore and flipped through some Cliff notes for the ending. I still got an A on my essay though. ^_^ Regarding Legolas=Chichiri: it's the breeches I tell you! The breeches! And the legs! Compare a picture of Chichiri and "Legolas" and you'll see they have the same legs! And what fine legs they are! ^.^ I love archery! I love the way Legolas used the arrow to stab some Ork then let fly on his bow! *swoons* I get dizzy thinking about archers. *sighs happily* I'd buy LOTRs just for the scenes with Legolas and his bow. I've read The Amber Spyglass (in fact, I was just considering buying it this afternoon to complete my His Dark Materials collection). Shall I spoil it for you? Shall I? Shall I? I was glad Iorek was back too. He was my favorite. Such a noble polar bear. I didn't really like any of the other Philip Pullman books though. Not really to my taste. I think you should read the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling. Starting w/ Luck in the Shadows. You'll love Alec and Seregil. About Access... I think there was a pic of him in some kinda formal angel garb? One of those full color pics that senseis love to roll out? I think that's the one I want, demo... any color pictures of him with his black wings is perfect by me!! ^-^

Ack! Must go do hw!

Finals are over...

Eeeeeyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh~~~!!! There, that pretty much says everything I'm feeling right now. I'm so glad finals are over. I can totally slack off now. I got about 2 hours of sleep the day before my first two finals (AP-Government & AP-Statistics) because I was studying, and it turned out that I didn't even have to worry because the Gov. test didn't count and the stat final was mostly a collection of past test problems. I finished the stat test before anyone else :3 (well... except for Henry... smart bastard... but only cos I got really dizzy and lost in the middle of the test and had to waste time going over my answers to make sure I didn't do anything wrong when I blacked out). I could have taken my Math Analysis final the same day too, to get things over with, but my teacher suggested that I retake a chapter test to average the score. I didn't do much better on the retake... -_-; So, that was Tuesday, first final day. Wednesday I went to take my French final (so many fucking "fill in the blanks with les temps convenient") and my Math Anal. final. I totally scored on the math final. :3 48/50=96% That got me the A I wanted in that class. IN YOUR FACE EUGENE, SUCKER WHO GOT A B!!! Mwahahahaha!! Eeeh... sorry... got carried away... Well, I don't have much confidence in my French final, but my teacher did give me a lot of help, and she said she was going to curve it anyway (out of TWO people!!), so it shouldn't be so bad. I'd already finished and turned in my bio final. Not worried about that at all. But my English final... >_< I was supposed to read Uncle Tom's Cabin, but I only got past the part where St. Clair talks about his past with his cousin Miss Ophelia, and guess what my final was on? THAT PART THAT I'D JUST READ ABOUT ST.CLAIR AND HIS PAST!!! How lucky was I! But the second part of the test totally mortified me. Well, the memory of it does now. I was supposed to rewrite the story of The Scarlet Letter in modern times, but I ended up killing Hester off in an unsolved murder story and threw in a stupid P.I. as the narrator... God it was so crappy, but hey, what could I have possibly accomplished and perfected in just one hour? So, I'm having my doubts about English, but hopefully my teacher will go easy on me...

I went to see Lord of the Rings again with my dad today. (sorry maryam...) It's even better than I remembered it! Well, the fighting scenes especially. I was practically on the edge of my seat every time Legolas performed a stunt with his bow and arrows (ah the beauty of archery...). Orlando Bloom (Legolas) has such beautiful facial structure... *sighs* but... his nose... *sighs again* why is it that everyone who has wonderful facial structure has their face ruined by the shape of their nose??!! The poor guy looks good only with long blond hair, breeches, jerkin, wristguards, cloak, and a bow and quiver slung across his back. Or maybe I just like him cos he's an archer... I think it's the latter. Actually, his outfit in the movie rather reminds me of Chichiri... those breeches, especially.

Wai~ I found another bishonen to add to my "Kuroi Tsubasa" collection! Folkien Lacour de Fanel from Tenku no Escaflowne!! Okay, I didn't really find him. I was just reminded that he also had black wings... So now, my collection has Tsuzuki (I know he doesn't have wings, but... well, with his depression and being a descendent of darkness more than makes up for that...), Chihaya (poor, poor, tragic Chihaya-chan...), and Access (Access-chan wa kawaii~~!). It's gonna be one hell of a time finding a manga-style pic of Folkien with his wings, though. I'm picky cos I don't like how the anime makes the nose look all weird. The manga style of him is gorgeous. Need to find a good pic~~ x_x Shouldn't be much of a problem for Access, though. KKJ's author drew this amazing pic of him that I saw somewhere. Must find it... Chihaya, though... that's going to be hard unless I go into anime style pics too...

I swear, my dreams are like a series of RPGs. Last night I dreamt that I was Alec from Luck in the Shadows and I had Seregil in my lap, and I was leaning over to kiss him…>-< of course, then my mom woke me up -_-; Once before, I dreamt that I was the assassin Vree from No Quarter on some kind of mission. Why do I always dream I’m some character from a book? I mean, I’ve had dreams where I’m just myself, but a lot of the times I find myself role-playing! Actually, once I think I also dreamt that I was Robin… I think it was Robin, because then it’d be the only way to explain the presence of Batman in my dream…

This is just great… Ka-chan dreams about Jpop and I dream about books… My subconscious even turns out amazingly detailed plots for my dream settings… The one with Batman was a horror story… the one last night was… well, it was kinda… um… smutty… -_-; Yeah… smutty… it’s the only way I can describe it… oh yeah, and kinda yaoish… cos I was a boy in the dream… >_>

LOL I just read a review of the Lord of the Rings by someone who thought it was kind of gay because she wasn’t sure about the sexuality of “the tall hobbit”. I couldn’t stop laughing!

Argh, I can’t get “Crazy for Love” out of my head! There’s this one line that keeps on playing over and over in my mind:
“Every day! Every night! Crazy for love!!!
Into the depth of desire!”
… ok… the perverted part of my mind is laughing like insane over my subconscious’ choice of lyrics to get fixated upon, but the more modest part of my mind is screaming “Why?!~~” Argh, get outta my head! Damn lyrics! Initial D songs are too catchy!

Did I mention that I went to see Lord of the Rings and that Legolas the elf is really cute? :3 And he’s an archer!~ *sparkles* He reminded me of Touma almost right away~ <3 <3 <3 thanks to the archery, of course.

Why am I here again?

.........

Hoooeeeee~~~ So many hard finals next week~~~!!! >_< I have AP Government and AP Statistics on Tuesday, French on Wednesday, Advanced Biology and English on Thursday, and Math Analysis whenever I have time for it. I think I might have to do it on Wednesday with French. Aside from finals, I have a two-part essay due for AP Gov. if I want a good grade for the semester, retake a chapter test for Math Analysis if I want an A in that class (as well as acing the final), and two unfinished French assinments. I also have to reread Uncle Tom's Cabin and read the last few chapters of Lineberry (gov. textbook)... >_< I'm gonna die~!!! A three-day weekend doesn't seem enough to do everything! I can't wait till semester's over and I can take a break.

The Raven
by Edgar Allan Poe

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore-
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-
Only this and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in bleak December;
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;-vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow-sorrow for the lost Lenore-
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore-
Nameless here forevermore.

And the silken, sad, uncertain rusting of each purple curtain
Thrilled me-filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating,
"'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door-
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door;-
This it is and nothing more."

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitanting then no longer,
"Sir," said I, "or madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarcely was sure I heard you"-here I opened wide the door;-
Darkness there and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore?"
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, "Lenore!"
Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
"Surely," said I, "surely that is somebody at my window lattice;
Let me see, then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore-
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-
'Tis the wind and nothing more!"

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door-
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door-
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

Much I marveled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning-little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door,
Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as "Nevermore."

But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing farther then he uttered-not a feather then he fluttered-
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before-
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore."

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
"Doubtless," said I, "what it utters is its only stock and store
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burdens bore-
Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore
Of 'Never-nevermore'."

But the Rave still beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore-
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamplight gloated o'er,
But whose velvet-violet lining with that lamplight gloating o'er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor.
"Wretch," I cried, "thy God hath lent thee-by these angels he hath sent thee
Respite-respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;
Quaff, oh, quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil!-prophet still, if bird of devil!-
Whether Tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted-
On this home by horror haunted-tell me truly, I implore-
Is there-is there balm in Gilead?-tell me-tell me, I implore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil-prophet stil, if bird of devil!
By that heaven that bends above us-by that God we both adore-
Tell this sould with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore-
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore."
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

"Be that word our sign of parting, bird of fiend!" I shrieked, upstarting-
"Get thee back into the tempest and the night's Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!-quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take they form from off my door!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming.
And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted-nevermore!
